 PAION Deutschland GmbH PAION Deutschland GmbH is a full subsidiary of PAION AG, a public biopharmaceutical company based in Aachen, Germany. It aims to become a leader in developing and marketing innovative drugs for the treatment of stroke and other thrombotic diseases for which there is a substantial unmet medical need. PAION’s activities are focused on the development of desmoteplase, a plasminogen activator currently in phase 3 of clinical testing, and two neuroprotectants (enecadin, currently in phase 2) and Solulin, that is ready for clinical studies. Currently PAION employs more than 80 people and is classified as an SME. PAION is one of the few pharmaceutical companies with broad experience in development of drugs for treatment of stroke patients, with extensive coverage of preclinical, production, clinical, and regulatory aspects. That this is appreciated in the scientific public may be concluded from the number of compounds offered to PAION from research groups and other companies for further development. Role in ProjectPAION is a biopharmaceutical company with the scope of developing innovative drugs for the treatment of thrombotic diseases and CNS-related interventions in the hospital setting including stroke. If generated by PAION´s research, new molecular entities will be made available to the ARISE partners for basic studies PAION will evaluate new molecules generated within ARISE, with the possibility to initiate complementary pre-clinical assays and/or clinical trial.
